What is Nielsen Research and Is It Legit?

Nielsen has been around for over 90 years performing research for many different companies across the globe.

They collect useful data from consumers and audience members that companies can use to improve their products and offerings.

The most popular type of research the company facilitates is their Nielsen TV ratings which helps determine how many households watch a specific television program and for how long.

According to the Better Business Bureau, Nielsen research is accredited and has an A+ rating.

Despite the fact that the company has been around for 97 years, they are also global and have study consumers in more than 100 countries.

Nielsen is certainly not a scam, but it’s easy to see why someone might be skeptical about their rewards programs. Unfortunately, there are some scams out there that may be presented as a way to earn extra money by completing short tasks.

Only, users never get paid or don’t receive actual cash or a redeemable gift card. Luckily, Nielsen is not one of those companies.

This Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel review will explain exactly how the sign-up process works, how to get paid, and when you can expect to receive your payment.

Who’s Eligible to Join?

Before you consider signing up for the Nielsen Computer and Mobile Panel, it’s important to make sure you qualify. There are no fees to join and you will never be asked to share a credit card number.

However, you must be at least 18 years old and meet these other minimum qualifications:

  • Own a computer and/or mobile device that will allow you to authorize a software download
  • Be able to authorize a software download on any minor’s device that you are registering in your household

If you are installing Nielsen’s app or software to the device that another person in your household uses, you must have permission from them to do so. For example, if you want to register your spouse’s laptop and your child’s phone, they must know that you are taking part in the Nielsen Computer and Mobile Panel.

You can also join the program with your work computer but you must have permission from your employer to do so.

The chances may be slim of them agreeing to let you download 3rd party software (especially if it would put sensitive data at risk) but it all depends on the type of work you do and what your employer will allow.

Here’s How the Nielsen Mobile Panel Work!

To get started, you’ll need to head to Computer Mobile Panel website and click on the button that says ‘Sign Up’. You’ll fill in a form with basic information like your name, date of birth, and phone number.

Then, you’ll be prompted to create a username and password for your account. A pass-code will be sent to your phone so you can verify your device.

Nielsen will ask more questions about your household like how many people are over the age of 2, how many devices you use to access the internet, and who in the household uses those devices regularly.

You will also need to share your address which is what will be used when it’s time to mail your rewards payment to you.

Depending on the number of devices you register, it may take up to 10 minutes to sign up and complete the initial survey.

1) Download the Nielsen App on Your Device

After you set up your account, you’ll be prompted to either download the Nielsen app or download their computer software (if you registered a laptop or desktop computer).

Follow the instructions to download the app then restart your phone afterward. That’s basically it. Nielsen will then pay you rewards just by keeping the app on your phone.

When you register a computer, you’ll be entered into Nielsen’s monthly sweepstakes. Each month they give away $10,000 and all computer users who are registered have a chance to win. The top prize earners take home $1,000 and there are 400 winners each month.

When you register your mobile device and download the app, you’ll earn points throughout the year. These points can be redeemed for prizes and gift cards. The Nielsen app gives you $50 per year by staying in the panel.

You can register both your computer and mobile phone devices.

You’ll be entered into their monthly sweepstakes where you can win cash and prizes. As an active member, you can win up to $1,000 per month.

As a member, you may also occasionally be invited to take special surveys. This will result in bonus entries to the Sweepstakes for cash rewards.
